Robert Sharkey Withers, III, 69, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 5, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. A native of Jackson, MS he was born on Christmas Day, 1942. He graduated from Murrah High School in 1960, attended Mississippi State University and served in the United States Army. During his career in Jackson he was active in the residential construction and mortgage lending business. He moved to Arlington, Texas in 1985 where he managed a builder's warranty program. He lived in Granbury and Clifton, TX until he retired in 2005. He returned to Mississippi in 2006 and purchased acreage and a home in Monticello where he was able to live out his passion for the outdoors. He loved gardening, training and taking care of his horses and dogs, hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He was an active member at the Monticello United Methodist Church where served as a greeter and usher. He was committed to attending the Men's Sunday School Class. He was an active participant in the Old Coots and Goobers Breakfast Club. Bob is preceded in death by his father Robert Sharkey Withers, Jr. He is survived by his mother Letitia C. Withers of Jackson, sister Tish Fiet of Jackson, brother Bill Withers of Ridgeland, daughter Chris Whitton of Clinton, grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, and special friend, Gina Rogers of Fort Worth, TX. Funeral services will be held at Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Ridgeland, MS on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Noon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Dr. Brantley Pace for his compassionate, Christian care since the onset of Bob's illness.Memorials may be made to Monticello United Methodist Church, 130 E.
