Mrs. Bennie Brantley Smith, 92, of Laurel, Formerly of Jackson, died at Cottonwood Manor in Laurel, MS, December 4, 2012. Her life was devoted to God, church, family and friends. At her death, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Laurel. In Jackson, where she lived approximately 40 years, she was a member of Woodville Heights Baptist Church. She taught 5th grade Sunday School and was active in all aspects of the church. She retired from the Disability Determination Service.

Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Sue Walker (Donnie) of Laurel and three sons; Kenneth B. Smith M.D (Mimi) of New Orleans, LA, Charles Wayne Smith (Julie) of Byram, MS, Edwin Brantley Smith (Marilyn) of Dallas, TX, nine grandchildren; Scott (Anne) and Michael (Alice) Walker, Stephen (Anne), Taylor (Rebecca), Molly, Charles, Jr., Cassie (Clyde) Cummins, Brantley and McKenzie Smith and eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H.B. Smith, who died in 1998. Also, her parents, Ben F. and Addie Brantley of Leake County, sisters; Mattie Lee Adams and Margaret Barham and brother Miller Brantley.

Services for Mrs. Smith will be held on December 8, 2012 at 11:00Am at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland with visitation on hour before. Dr. Randy Turner will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2636, Laurel, MS 39442 or .
