Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, December 10, 2012, at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery, Jackson, MS for Golda Harper Koenig, 95, who passed away at her residence at St. Catherine's Village on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.

Services will be conducted by Rev. Linda Smith of Calvary Baptist Church, Jackson, where Mrs. Koenig was a lifelong member.

Mrs. Koenig, the daughter of the late Thiers Tureen Harper and former Merva Jane Lawson was a lifetime resident of Jackson. She graduated from Jackson's Central High School and attended Millsap's College. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Robert A. Koenig, her parents, a brother Jack T. Harper, and a sister Loraine Harper.

She will be remembered for love of family. A special love was in particular for her two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Children played a special role in her life. The years she spent teaching kindergarten at Parkway Baptist Church Kindergarten and later at Van Winkle Baptist Church Kindergarten were always happy memories for her.

Survivors include her daughter Frances Koenig Chunn and her husband Don of Lafayette, Louisiana and two grandchildren, Caroline Chunn McCarthy and her husband Brian of Mobile, AL and D. Keith Chunn and his wife Jenny of New Orleans, LA. In addition she is survived by six great-grandchildren, Cullen Keith McCarthy, Connor Lawson McCarthy and Mary Windham McCarthy, Andrew Lawson Chunn, Caroline Louise Chunn and Spencer Miles Chunn. Mrs. Koenig is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Maureen Ferguson Harper and Vera C. Koenig and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Golda Koenig be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, the Baptist Children's Home or to the church or .

The family wishes to thank her many friends and caregivers at St. Catherine's Village who gave so generously of themselves for the past 19 years. We especially thank Sonja Potts, Angela Wade, Cindy Jayroe, Valerie Douglas, Darlene White and countless others for their kind and committed professional care. In addition we thank Kelly Ingebretsen of Gentiva Hospice for her sensitive presence in recent days. Also, great appreciation goes to Dr. Holland Addison and P.A. Jena Seago, who always responded in times of need. We thank each of you.
