Elsie Platt Obituary
Ridgeland
Elsie Sumrall Platt, 95, died Saturday, April 20, 2013 in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23rd at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Wright and Ferguson with burial to follow at 3 p.m. in Adamsville Cemetery in Greene County.
Mrs. Platt was a long time member of North Park Presbyterian Church and was active in the Women of the Church organization. She was the past student body president of Women's College, now known as William Carey University and after graduation she taught in public education for over 30 years.
She is survived by her son Stephen Platt and her daughters Rebecca Platt and Ann Necaise; grandchildren Lauren Pearson, Jennifer Carrell, Jonathan O'Briant, Christopher Platt; great grandchildren, Emmett Carrell, Lillian Carrell, and Maguire O'Briant. Ms. Platt was like a second mother to me. When I heard the news, it felt like my mother had died again. It still brings tears to my eyes to think of it, but I know she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. My sympathies and love to you and the family. ABSENT FROM THE BODY, PRESENT WITH THE LORD.

Mrs. Platt taught me in 4th grade at Bradley elementary school in Jackson, Ms and I will never forget how caring and special she was and I will always hold her near and dear. My sincere condolences to you, her family.

I had Ms. Platt as my 4th grade teacher at Bradley Elem. in Jackson, around 1962. She was such a sweet lady..one of my most favorite teachers. I called her last year to see how she was..we had a very enjoyable conversation, catching up on things. My condolences to her family..
