Edgar Dean Gemeny and Allie Rue Mangum, who both preceded her in death, she grew up in MD then moved to MS, her mother's home, for her father's pastoral calling. Raised by her Methodist minister father who instilled in her to love all and give of yourself, which she did unconditionally to everyone she met. She never met a stranger and opened her doors and heart to all.

She spent many years in Jackson where she graduated from Millsaps College and raised her 3 children. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she active with the Wesley Women, sang in the choir, nurtured children at Bethlehem Center and Methodist Children's Home. While in Jackson, she worked for Jackson Daily News, Central High School, Calwell Culvert Company then for Senator Thad Cochran, which took her back to the Washington, DC area. After retiring from Senator Cochran's office, she devoted her time and talent to the causes she believed in. Dear to her heart, she made teddy bears for the Fairfax Fire department for accident victims. Back home in MS in 2001, she made hundreds of bandannas and sent overseas to the troops and clothing for mission trips. She was presently a member of Fannin United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands George Cook, Jack Nolan and Charles Jackson; two children, Diane Parker and Whit Cook; brother, Brig. General Graham Gemeny and sister Audrey Smith.
