Ridgeland, MS

Frederick John Klaas, Jr., 83, died Monday July 8, 2013 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Thursday July 11, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Madison preceded by visitation at 9:00am. The family will also receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm Wednesday July 10, 2013 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland. A Prayer Service will follow at 7:00pm. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.

He was born August 21, 1929 in Canton, MS to Frederick John Klaas and Veronica Aulenbrock Klaas. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Jackson and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He was former member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the men's club of Holy Family (The Trubadors).

He was a retired diesel mechanic from Quinn Cattle Company in Jackson, co-owner of K-K Stables and Riding Club and owner of K-K Trailer Sales in Ridgeland.

He was a Korean War veteran with the rank of Sergeant First Class, member of 92nd armored F.A. BN - Korea "Red Devils". He served from December 11, 1950 until November 19, 1951. He was a member of American Legion Post 153 of Madison, Ridgeland and Gluckstadt.

Preceding him in death were his parents Frederick and Veronica Klaas, sister, Marcella Klaas, son, Frederick John Klaas, III, and grandson, Frederick John Klaas, IV. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gloria Claudette Pee Klaas; brother, Leo Klaas of Ridgeland; daughter, Deborah Walters and husband Dwight (Bud) of Jackson; son, James Richard Klaas and wife Trena of Ridgeland; daughter, Donna Farnham and husband Allen of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Jason Walters, Brandon Walters, Emily Klaas, Tyler Klaas, Amy Klaas, Austin Stewart, and Jacob Stewart; and great grandchildren Madisen and Kamden.
