Following in the footsteps of his uncles, he moved to New Orleans to pursue a career in medicine. He graduated from Tulane University Medical School in 1958. Upon completion of medical school, he interned at Charity Hospital in New Orleans followed by a residency in Urology. A fellowship in Pathology and Internal Medicine was awarded afterwards.

Dr. Beacham practiced medicine from Southwestern Mississippi to the Acadiana Parishes, always making friends along the way. He was loved and revered by his patients and his medical practice was the crowning achievement of his life.
