Harter L. Leatherman, Jr. passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at University Hospital in Jackson, MS.

Harter Leatherman (Bud) was born November 6, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He is predeceased by his parents, Dr. Harter L. and Anne H. Leatherman, and sister, Doranne Leatherman (Dodie).

Bud graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1957, where he met his beautiful wife, Barbara.

Bud Leatherman attended Indiana University from 1957 to 1961. He was employed by Dun & Bradstreet from 1961 thru 1964. He was then employed as General Manager for Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company from 1964 to 1971. He was then employed by Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company from 1971 to 1978 and simultaneously was President of Compensations Systems, Inc. from 1978 thru 1981. He was Executive Vice-President of Management Advisors, Inc., one of the largest property and casualty agencies in Indiana. Among Bud's interest were antique cars, guns, nature and history and we called him one of the true Jeffersonian Men. His incredible sense of humor endeared him to everyone he met and he never met a stranger.

Harter is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara, his son, and one-time business partner H. Lincoln Leatherman, III and his wife Kathy; his daughter, Leslie and her husband, Stephen A. Coachys, M.D.; grandchildren, Ashley Runnels and her husband Mychal and Cayse Coachys and great granddaughter, "Lexie" Runnels.
