Mr. James Therward Waddell Sr., 83, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 11 at Chancellor Funeral Home of Byram with interment to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday and one hour preceding the funeral service on Wednesday.

Mr. Waddell was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Raymond and was formerly a member of McDowell Road Baptist Church. A veteran of the US Marines, he served in the Korean Conflict. In 1964 Mr. Waddell began service with the Jackson Fire Department until his retirement in 1986.

Mr. Waddell was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Margie Waddell; parents, Elbert and Callie Bethany Waddell; and brothers, Glen Waddell and David Waddell. He is survived by his son, Jimmy Waddell (Cheryl) of Crystal Springs; daughters, Kathy Martin (Mike) of Anthem, AZ and Tammy Hilton (Tommy) of Florence, MS; grandchildren, Melanie Digrazia, Niki Martin, Christopher Martin, Kyle Hilton (Kate), and Abby Brumley; as well as three great-grandchildren. Mr. Waddell is also survived by his brothers, Willard Waddell of Ocean Springs, Leonard Waddell, Harold Waddell, Johnie Waddell, and Jerry Wayne "Bud" Waddell, each of Philadelphia; and Rayburn Waddell of Madison; and one sister, Patricia Bradley of Philadelphia.
