Patricia Tsimortos, 89, died Monday, June 30, 2014 in Jackson. Visitation is 4:30 - 6:00 on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 and after 12:00 on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Services are at 1:00 Thursday in the funeral home chapel with burial in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Tsimortos was born in Arkansas. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Louisiana State University. While at LSU she met and married her husband of 58 years, Paul Tsimortos - a decision she declared to be the best she ever made. During WWII she moved to Washington D.C. to work for the Department of the Navy while Paul fought in the European Theatre.
After moving to Jackson, she served as the librarian at Lee Elementary School for many years. She loved working with the children and opening the world of books to them. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, the Jackson-Hinds Chapter of the Retired Teachers Association and Lake Harbour Drive Church of Christ.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Tsimortos, her parents G.D. and Ethel Craighead and her brother, George Craighead. Her daughter, Susan Tsimortos, a niece and two nephews survive her.
