Jane Ladner Obituary

Jane Rutledge Ladner

Waynesville, NC

Jane Rutledge Ladner, age 71, of Waynesville, NC, left this earth to soar with God's angels on January 23, 2016. Jane was born to Martha Upchurch and James Madison Rutledge in Water Valley, MS. After graduating GHS in Greenwood, MS, she attended Delta State College until marriage. Jane was the loved and loving wife of Gerald Craig Ladner for fifty-two years, the caring mother of Gerald Craig Ladner, Jr. (d. 1968), Laura Katherine Ladner (Harwell) Jefferis, and Beth Ladner (d. 1991), and the doting grandmother "MamaJane" to Craig and Ellie Harwell. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Kyzar, nephew, James Kyzar, and niece, Sara Kyzar Cartee. Jane was a devoted follower of Christ, attending Providence (Presbyterian) Church, having served earlier as an Elder. Jane was an accomplished homemaker in Huntsville, AL; Cocoa Beach, FL; Slidell, LA; Cocoa, FL; and back to Huntsville, AL, raising her family while husband Gerry played with NASA rockets. They retired in 1997 to a log home in the Balsam Range of the Smoky Mountains for a bit of rest and relaxation and European travels.

A memorial service will be held January 26th Providence Church at 1:30pm. Interment will be at Maple Hill in Huntsville, AL at a later date.

I was very saddened to read of Jane`s death. I so remember Paul and I enjoying your wonderful dinners and visits to our house. I last saw Jane at a Christian

May you find comfort from God

Thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. There is little that I can say or do to ease your pain and suffering. May knowing that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many, bring a measure of comfort. Life is so short and those we love are gone from our lives too quickly. God's promise to empty the grave in the near future is found at Hosea 13:14, may the God of loyal love comfort you during your time of sorrow.

Gerry, I am saddened by your loss of Jane. As I looked through the pictures I saw what a lovely lady she was. And it made me remember and cherish more the long time Carmen and I have had together. You shared triumphs and tragedies and that is life; the life you shared together. Your family is in our prayers.

Jerry and family, As I passed on to you in our last e-mail, you and Jane have always had a warm spot in my heart and have been very special people in my life.

I hope you will get to come back "home" to Greenwood before too long so we may share lots of good memories. You and Jane both have been "archived" in the Greenwood high School section of my museum.

Dear Gerry and family,
We are so very sorry to hear of Jane's passing. What an example of Christ's love Jane exhibited. We know there are no words or expressions of sympathy that will be suffice to ease your hurt. Our prayers are that our Lord will hold you in His arms and give you solace.
