Debbie Smith quietly passed away Aug. 26, 2017, at her home with her husband Ray by her side.
Debbie was vibrant and social, and her laugh was unmistakable.
Officially Deborah Smith, she was known by many names: Butch in her childhood, Deb, Libby, and Mom or Ma by some of the kids and their friends.
She was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Idaho Springs in 1982, where she raised her children "on the mountain." Retiring from the Canyon Casino after a long career, she and Ray eventually settled in Dunnellon, Fla., to be near the ocean.
She is survived by her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren and all of the surrogate children whom she has embraced along the way.
