Edward A. Barton, 81, passed away at home in Green Valley, Ariz., on Sept. 17, 2016, following a short illness.
Ed was born June 11, 1935, to Edward and Florence (Prescott) Barton in Staten Island, N.Y. He attended primary schools and graduated from McKee High School in Staten Island. In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged after four years.
He married Joy Saleno in Colorado in 1957, with three beautiful daughters born of this relationship: Holly Burley of Colorado, Shelly McKenna of Arizona and Amanda Redman of Colorado. He is also survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one brother, Gary Barton of Staten Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He married Mary Caravaglio in 1986. They celebrated 31 years of marriage and lived most of their married life in Colorado. They moved to Green Valley in 2015.
Ed worked 31 years at the Henderson/Freeport-McMoRan Mine in Empire in various career positions. He loved taking care of the water treatment plant and being the cage attendant. He was active in the Elks and several volunteer organizations.
Ed was a kind gentleman. He loved telling jokes with a clever sense of humor and enjoying time with his Mary, and he was truly a great friend to all.
A celebration of life will be held at noon July 15, 2017, at Elks Lodge 607 in Idaho Springs. A luncheon will be served, followed by a short trip to Jones Pass to reminisce, grieve, share memories and help fulfill Ed's last wishes. Please feel free to share in all or part of the activities.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor's choice.
