Gary Lee Edwards was born on July 3, 1940, in Lamar. As a young child, he spent his time in Nebraska, Wyoming and later, Idaho Springs, with his brother Gene, and parents, Art and Ruth Edwards.
As a young adult, Gary spent his early career building the Eisenhower Tunnel, serving in the Army and joining the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 9.
Gary is survived by his wife Carolyn; children Jeff (Tracey), Jill (Gary) and Jodi (Ron); grandchildren Jennifer and Justin; step-grandchildren EmilyAnne, John and Laura; and step-great-granddaughter Evelyn.
Gary's hobbies included fishing, hunting, watching baseball and spending time with his family.
Gary was preceded in death by his grandson Robert, his parents and brother.
Services will be held at The United Church of Idaho Springs on Saturday, July 22, at noon with a reception to follow.
