William ""Bill"" Jones was born in Idaho Springs on July 27, 1933.
He grew up in Idaho Springs and graduated from Idaho Springs High School in 1951. He graduated from the University of Colorado Law School and served in the Army until 1961.
Bill returned to Idaho Springs and practiced law until 1976, when he was appointed to the 5th Judicial District Court bench. He and his family moved to Eagle in 1977.
In addition to serving as district court judge, Bill served as the chief judge from 1980 to 1994. He retired from the bench in 1996.
Bill was an active member of the Idaho Springs and Eagle communities, serving as a volunteer firefighter and fire chief with the Idaho Springs Fire Department and the Eagle Fire Department, and was an avid outdoors enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret, and daughter Cynthia, both of Eagle; and son Bradley and daughter-in-law Dominique, two granddaughters, Shayden and Taelia Jones of Gypsum; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his four siblings, Robert Jones, Warren Jones, Marjorie (Chee Chee) Bell and Marilyn Orr.
