was born January 05, 1926 to the late Roy Lee and Della Irene Harris. She left this world on Wednesday, February 06, 2013. Irene worked many years for Galena Park I.S.D. as a dietician. She and her husband retired to Cleveland and she opened the first Brookshire Bros. Deli. Irene and her husband proudly served as active members of the V.F.W. Post 1839 in Cleveland, Texas. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxillary. For the past 10 years, two of Irene's nieces, Connie Campbell and Geraldine Jeanes, have lovingly seen to her needs.

She is preceded in death by her husband David Carter; son David Wayne Carter; granddaughter Stephanie Ann Havner; parents Roy Lee and Della Irene Harris; four sisters Inez Howle, Verde Nell Carter, Louise Greer, Lois Ledbetter; and one brother Henry Lee Harris.

Survivors include her honorary daughters Connie Campbell and Gearldine Jeanes; grandchildren David Allen Carter, Steven Ray Carter, Tommy Lynn Carter, Tracie Carter,

and Kimberly Carter; countless great-grandchildren; nephews John Ledbetter, Paul Ledbetter, Bobby Carter, Charlie Carter; nieces Eva Horton, Donna Greer, Elizabeth Medina, and Joyce Martin.

Graveside services were held 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 08, 2013 at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens, Cleveland, Texas; Chaplain Chris Iarossi officiated.
