Annie B. Jones

CLINTON — Mrs. Annie Bell Jones, 101, of 120 Southwood Drive, died at Mary Gran Nursing and Retirement Center, Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donald Keith Carter, the Rev. Chubby Rieber and the Rev. Glenn Morgan officiating. The burial will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Piney Green Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in 1912 in Sampson County, Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Frank and Cora Bell Jarmin Thornton. She was a homemaker and the widow of Sanford Robert Jones.

She is survived by two daughters, Lounell Crumpler and husband, Victor of Clinton, and Eldora Mitchell and husband, Jerry of Roseboro; three sons, Jack Ray Jones and wife, Nancy, Clarence Earl Jones, all of Clinton, and James Sanford Jones and wife, Wanda of Clement; one sister, Ruth Autry of Clinton; one brother Jack Thornton of Sanford; fourteen grandchildren; 10great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one step-grandson and one step-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ernie Jones, and a grandson, Chadwick Earl Jones; daughter-in-law, Linda Hughs Jones; two sisters, Eva Parsons and Minnie Thornton; six brothers, Elbert Thornton Royal Thornton, Leamon Thornton, Ernie Thornton, Willie Thornton, and Atlas Thornton; and a step-granddaughter, Darlene Pope.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Piney Green Baptist Church, 6040 High House Road, Salemburg, NC 28385.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
