Clara D. Hope, 78

CLINTON — Mrs. Clara Elizabeth DeVault Hope, 78, of 3975 Garland Hwy., died Monday, April 14, 2014 in Mary Gran Nursing Home.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 20, at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Barnhill officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.

Born in 1935 in Sampson County, Mrs. Hope was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Katie Patilda Faircloth DeVault. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Estel T. Hope; three daughters, Patricia J. "Patsy" DuVall of Leland, Mary E. Smith of Greenville, Tenn. and Janet Lee Maricle of Verona, Mo.; one son, Robert D. Smith of Dayton, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Anne "Connie" Culbreth and a son, George Franklin Smith.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Royal-Hall Funeral Home and other times at her home.
