Clarence A. Bryant, 77

GARLAND — Mr. Clarence (Slim) Ayers Bryant, 77, died on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Rex Hospital, Raleigh.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 8 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, 118 Fayetteville Street, Clinton, with the Pastor Gene Smith officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in the Clinton City Cemetery.

Born June 24, 1936, Mr. Bryant was the son of the late Roscoe Bryant and Athia Spell Bryant. He was a graduate of Clinton High School, and a retired US Navy Veteran of 24 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters; Myrtle Ely and husband Richard, Ethel Sutton and husband Julius, Janie Johnson and husband McRae, Marie Enriquez and husband Henry; and one brother, Edmond Bryant and wife Ann. In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing and hunting. In his later years, he enjoyed watching college softball and football. He also retired from West Point Pepperell Mills. "Slim" was a devoted brother and is survived by two brothers; Walter Bryant and wife Edith of Clinton, and R. B. Bryant and wife Janet of Biloxi, Miss..

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service 2-3 p.m., at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his brother, Walter Bryant, 31 Sampson Airport Road, Clinton, NC 28328.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Wounded Warrior Foundation, 4200 Morganton Street- Suite 300, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
