Harold A. Starnes, 79

CLINTON — Mr. Harold Alexander Starnes, 79, of 584 Tyndall Grove Road, died Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at New Life Baptist Church with the Rev. David Page officiating.

Born in 1935 in Greenville, Tenn., Mr. Starnes was the son of the late Roscoe and Willie Mae Tilson Starnes. He was a member of the New Life Baptist Church and a former employee with Waste Industries and Ezzell Trucking Inc. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines having served twice in Vietnam. He was the widower of Zoa Marie Starnes.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary S. Bradshaw and husband, Ricky of Clinton; son, Timothy Starnes and wife, Donna of Durham; six grandchildren, Tara Edwards, Sarah Compton, Alex Starnes, Jenny Davidson, Nicole Bradshaw and John Holmes; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Elbert Worth; a daughter, Sharon Tyndall; a son, Andrew Starnes; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Tyndall and David Tyndall.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Royal-Hall Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Mary Bradshaw at 610 Tyndall Grove Road, Clinton.
