James F. Shipp, 82
CLINTON — Mr. James "Frank" Franklin Shipp, 82, of 1974 Moltonville Road, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, March 6, at Rowan Baptist Church, 701 Rowan Road, Clinton, with the Rev. N. Ray Phillips and the Rev. Michael Shook officiating. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
Mr. Shipp, born in Sampson County, was the son of the late Arthur Wick Shipp and Emma Jones Shipp and was the husband of Patricia "Pat" Bass Shipp. He was a farmer and a turkey grower, a member of the Turkey Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors, and was a member of the Sampson County Firemen's Honor Guard. He served on the Turkey Day Committee, was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Scottish Rite Hiram Lodge #98 and former Cub Master of Pack 80. Frank was a member of Rowan Baptist Church, where he served as the secretary for the Sunday School Classes and was a church deacon. He was predeceased by three brothers, Paul Shipp, Dixie Shipp, and Willie Shipp; and three sisters, Florence Sullivan, Grace Hovatter, and Emily Shipp.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia Bass Shipp of the home; two daughters, Frankie Shipp Stephenson and husband, James of Willow Springs, and Deborah "Debbie" Shipp Tyndall and husband, Darron of Pink Hill; a son, J. F. Shipp and wife, Beth of Warsaw; four grandchildren, Heather Stephenson Hargrave and husband, Seth, Holly Oates-Barker and husband, Will, Trey Shipp and Will Shipp; and a great-grandson, Nathan James Hargrave.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton and other times at the home.
