CLINTON — Mr. Walter "Bill" Parker, 81, of 1937 HB Lewis Road, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 at Mary Gran Nursing Center, Clinton.

Walter was born in Sampson County in 1932 to the late Jessie & Katie Ashford Parker. He was a former councilor for Archway and a cab driver. Fishing and hunting were among just some of his hobbies.

A home-going service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Hope Valley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harold Boykin officiating. Burial will be held private at the family's request.

Walter leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 21 years, Shirley Tripp Parker of the home; daughter, Marcieta Spriggs (Q) of Jacksonville; sons, Edward Parker of Clinton and Derrick Parker of Salembur; sisters, Mildred Robinson of New Jersey and Joyce Williams of Clinton; brothers, MacArthur Parker of New Jersey; and two grandchildren.

A public visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 20 from 1-6 p.m. with family present from 6- 7 p.m. at Hope Valley Funeral Service & Cremation, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton.
