Stanley Carr, 79

CLINTON — Mr. Stanley Carr, 79, of 10271 Hobbton Hwy., died Sunday, July 6, 2014 in Wake Medical Center.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Carr Memorial Christian Church with the Rev. Penny Ziemer, Rev. Charles Ray Jernigan and Rev. Michael Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.

Born in 1934 in Sampson County, Mr. Carr was the son of the late Joe Henry and Lottie Bass Carr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Carr Memorial Church and a retired farmer. He took great pride in farming land that had been in his family for generations with his son.

He is survived by his wife, Lynette S. Carr; daughter, Karen C. Gearing and husband, John of Raleigh; son, Lynn Stanley Carr and wife, Jackie of Clinton; two sisters, Peggy Jo Carr of Myrtle Beach and Patty C. Roberts and husband, John of San Diego, California; one brother, Fred Kay Carr and wife, Mary Anna of Chapel Hill; four grandchildren, Camryn Olivia Carr, Matthew Carr Gearing, Emma Sydney Gearing and Joshua Ryan Pope and wife, Fallon; and one great-granddaughter, Taylor Marie Pope.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Carr Nabers, one brother, Richard Stewart Carr, a niece, Melinda Roberts Dolley and nephew, Robert Frederick McMillan.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-3 p.m. in the church fellowship hall and other times at his home.
