Bessie McPhail, 71

CLINTON — Bessie McPhail, 71, of 604 Pine Street, died Saturday Jan. 18, 2014 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

Bessie was born in Duplin County in 1941 to the late Stacy & Della Peterson Killet. She worked in food service with the Clinton City Schools.

Bessie was preceded in death by a son: Dewayne McPhail; and sisters, Rebecca Williams and Carolyn Killet.

The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at Holly Grove Holiness Church with the Rev. Dr. Randy Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandhills cemetery.

Bessie leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Rudolph McPhail of the home; daughters, Emma Artis of Garland, Cynthia McNir of Canton, Ohio, Teresa Foye of Goldsboro, and Stephanie Wells of Winston Salem; sons, Romeo McPhail and Dexter McPhail, both of Clinton; sisters, Evelyn Raines of Clinton, Lilly Lamb of Clinton, Brenda McLeavy of Goldsboro, and Della Benjamin of Clinton; brothers, Jerry Killet of N.J. and Robert Killet of Clinton; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24 at Hope Valley Funeral Service & Cremation at 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton.
