Sherwood D. Stallings

GARLAND — Mr. Sherwood David Stallings, 75, of 370 Lisbon Bridge Road, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Ingold Baptist Church in Garland with the Rev. Clay Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the Ingold Cemetery.

Mr. Stallings, born in Sampson County, was the son of the late David Homer Stallings and Edna King Stallings. He was a veteran of the US Army and a retired machinist from Hamilton Beach and Fujicone. He was the founder of Lisbon Hunting Club and a member of the Ol' Lightin' Car Club of Clinton. As a member of Ingold Baptist Church, he was a former deacon and a member of the Brotherhood.

He is survived by his wife, Judy P. Stallings of the home; a daughter, Tina Stallings Byrd and husband Joey of Ingold; a grandson, Kevin Byrd of Ingold; two sisters, Rebecca Stallings Williams of Ingold and Marilyn Stallings Kersey of Clinton.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton and other times at the home, 370 Lisbon Bridge Rd., Garland.
