Arthur P. Butler, 86

NEWTON GROVE — Mr. Arthur Paul Butler, 86, of Spivey's Corner Hwy., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014 at his residence.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Benton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Butler was born September 24, 1927 in Sampson County the son of the late Arthur & Sally Jackson Butler and was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes W. Butler; a grandson, Michael Butler; and four brothers, Lindon, Donald, Carl and Charles Butler.

Paul was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Air Force and was retired with Civil Service as a Military Aircraft Inspector and a retired farmer.

Surviving are a daughter, Paulette Butler Tillman and husband, Timothy of Carthage; a son, Philip Butler and wife, Teresa of Newton Grove; three grandsons, Paul and Marcus Worley and Brett Butler; and three great-granddaughters, Kelcey, Leah, and Allie Worley.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cromartie Miller & Lee Funeral in Dunn and at other times at the home.
