Gilbert F. Alphin, 80
CLINTON — Mr. Gilbert Franklin Alphin, 80, of 3199 Taylors Bridge Hwy., died Tuesday, April 8, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 3949 Taylors Bridge Hwy., Clinton, with the Rev. Raeford Carter, Jr. officiating.
Born in 1933 in Lenoir County, Mr. Alphin was the son of the late Clarence Franklin and Dolly Deaver Alphin. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and he was the owner and operator of A&H Farm Systems, Inc. He was the widower of Frances Sessoms Alphin.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda A. Heath and husband, Tommy; son Dwight Alphin and wife, Melissa all of Clinton; one sister, Margie Lee of Kenly; three brothers, Ronald Alphin of Scriven, Georgia, Forest Alphin and Morris Alphin both of Clinton; special friends, A.D. and Mary Blackburn of Clinton, James and Terre Heath of Sneads Ferry; six grandchildren, Mikki Pearson and husband, Jason, Morgan H. Valdez and husband, Benjamin, Kris Alphin and wife, Chelsea, Erin Heath and friend, Jerry Ezzell, Baillie Alphin and London Alphin; and six great-grandchildren, Zeth Pearson, Halin Pearson, Daniel Heath, EllaKate Alphin, Adriana Valdez and Eli Alphin.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Alphin; and two sisters, Ethel Mae Jenkins and Josephine Alphin.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of his daughter, Linda Heath, 1600 W. Mt. Gilead Church Road, Clinton, N.C.
