Shirley S. Hunter, 78

CLINTON – Mrs. Shirley Margaret Strickland Hunter, 78, 226 Beaman St., passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton with the Reverend Charles Ray Jernigan officiating. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemtery.

Shirley was a long time employee of County Wide Sewing Factory and also worked for Doug Wilson and the Bellamy Center of Clinton. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl "Buddy" Hunter; her mother, Beatrice Strickland; her father, Anson Strickland; a sister, Lettie Lou Ryals Dickens; two brothers, Sonny and Buster Strickland.

She is survived by two sons, Alfred Ray Hunter and Jerry Lynn Hunter and wife Anita, all of Clinton; grandchildren, Ross, Jessica and Nicholas Hunter, all of Clinton, and Amiee Hunter Rosemond of Texas; step-grandchildren, Stephanie and Keith Hunter of Faison and Belinda Boney of Clinton; brother, Donald Strickland and wife Mary Ann of Fayetteville; her Aunt Pauline Moody of Dunn; three sisters-in-law, Helen Bass and husband Jackie, Wanda Hunter (late husband Victor), Edna Pate and husband Ray, all of Clinton; a brother-in-law, Dee Hunter and wife Kathy of Faison; and a special friend, Arthur Hondros of Clinton.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 18 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Jessica Hunter, 248 Richard Parker Road, Clinton.
