Milton R. Tew, 74

SALEMBURG —Mr. Milton R. "Mickey" Tew, 74, of 166 Country Club Road, died on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Wake Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7 at Roseboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Herring officiating. Burial will follow in the Roseboro Cemetery.

Mr. Tew was a native of Nash County and the son of the late Orban Letos Tew, Sr. and Louise Newsome Tew.

Mickey was General Manager and CEO of Star Telephone from 1985 to 2000. Because of his personal magnetism, his warm and friendly manner and intellect he was instrumental in the growth and progress of Star.

Mickey had a deep love of family, friends and a strong faith in his God who carried him through a difficult journey of illness. Now he is at peace with the Heavenly Father.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Tew of the home; son, Michael Allen Tew of Atlanta; step son, Jeffrey Jackson and wife Veronica of Whiteville; step daughter, Jennifer Honeycutt and husband, Clark of Salemburg; brother, Robert Harrison "Bobby' Tew and wife, June of Tarboro; two sisters, Carol Tew Sawyer and husband, Wayne of Plymouth and Patricia Tew Williams and husband, Keith of Faulkland; and four grandchildren, Ian Tew, Logan Jackson, Chandler Honeycutt and Chase Honeycutt.

The family will receive friends from noon - 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
