Mavis G. Jackson, 82

FAYETTEVILLE — Mrs. Mavis Godbold Jackson, 82, of Whispering Pines Retirement Center of Fayetteville, formerly of Sampson County, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014.

The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Baptist Chapel Baptist Church, 2208 Baptist Chapel Church Road in Autryville, with the Rev. Alan Roberts officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Harnett Primitive Baptist Cemetery, 817 Harnett Church Road, Roseboro, N.C. 28382.

Born July 28, 1931 in Harnett County, Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of the late James Thomas, Sr and Sarah Hayes Godbold. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Bertrand Jackson. She was a member of Baptist Chapel Baptist Church and a retired homemaker.

She is survived by a son, Gary Jackson and wife, Carol of Autryville; three daughters, LaRue Page and husband, Craig of Godwin; Shelia J. Jackson of Autryville; and Carla J. Jones of Fayetteville; sister, Peggy Goldbold Flanders of Charleston, S.C.; four grandchildren, Bradley Jackson and wife, Jessica, Brandi Edge and husband, Ed, Martin Jackson and wife, McKenzie, and Justin Jones.

Grannie "Tinker" is survived by four great-grandchildren, Daelyn and Mason Edge, and Cale and Connor Jackson.

The family will receive friends after the services on Friday night at the church and other times at the home of Craig and LaRue Page, 1437 Maynard Road, Godwin, N.C.
