Allen C. Darden Jr., 85

CLINTON — Mr. Allen C. "A.C." Darden Jr., 85, of 700 Stewart Avenue, died at his home, Thursday, July 17, 2014.

A Graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, in the Clinton Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 21, at Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Jim Moran and the Rev. Tom Denton officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Born in 1928 in Sampson County, Mr. Darden was the son of the late Allan Clement Darden Sr. and Juanita Denton Darden. He was a member of Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church, a Retired Barber and a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War.

He is survived by one sister, Peggy Dallas of Jacksonville, Fla.; one grandson, Dylan Darden of Columbia, S.C.; one daughter-in-law, Teresa Darden of Columbia, S.C.; three nieces, Debbie McGehee and husband, Sutton, Rhonda Donavan and husband, Tom, and Kim Alexander all of Jacksonville, Fla.; two nephews, Brady Darden of Fayetteville, and Bill Darden and wife, Fay of Virginia.; and eight great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two sons, Al and Bill Darden; and one brother, Clarence Brady Darden.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at Royal-Hall Funeral Home and other times at his home, 700 Stewart Avenue, Clinton.
