Alma "Gloria" Tart, 90

CLINTON — Mrs. Alma Gloria Reynolds Tart, 90, of Clinton died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at Southwood Nursing and Retirement Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 110 W. Main St., Clinton, N.C., with Father Joe Running officiating. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.

Mrs. Tart, born in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Joseph Thomas Reynolds and Alma Alderman Reynolds. She was only sixteen when she finished Clinton High School, and her parents sent her to Saint Mary's School in Raleigh. She then attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Fla. On April 16, 1943, she married Charles Douglas Tart.

Mrs. Tart was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Josephine Reynolds Dudley.

She is survived by three sons, Charles Douglas Tart, Jr. and his wife Susan of Lakeland, Fla., Thomas Hollingsworth Tart and his wife Linda of Winston-Salem, and Whitfield Reynolds Tart and his wife Jan of Clinton; two daughters, Jo-Anne Findt and her husband William of Elizabethtown and Gloria Patricia Wheat and her husband Greg of Beaufort; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at 311 West Main St., Clinton, and will receive friends there Friday evening, Sept. 27.
