Glenn E. Stahl (1929 - 2013)

GREEN SPRINGS - Glenn E. Stahl, 83, formerly of Clyde, recently of Carlsbad, New Mexico, died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Elmwood at the Springs in Green Springs. He was born Oct. 18, 1929 in Somerset, Pa. to the late Charles Henry and Flora Pearl (Egolf) Stahl. Glenn graduated from Somerset High School in 1947 and attended Penn State University. He served our country in the US Navy during the Korean War. On Jan. 29, 1955 he married Leona S. "Suzy" Slagle and she survives in Green Springs. Mr. Stahl worked as an electrician at Whirlpool until his retirement. He and Mrs. Stahl had operated the Dairy Queen in Tiffin from 1962-1968. He was an excellent carpenter who was great at crafting anything from wood. Glenn and Suzy moved from Clyde to Carlsbad, New Mexico in 1995. They are members of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Carlsbad and former members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde. He loved history, nature, and traveling. Mr. and Mrs. Stahl were fortunate to travel to all fifty states together. Glenn enjoyed singing Barbershop and sang in many choirs, including the choir at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Carlsbad, New Mexico. For over fifteen years, Glenn volunteered at Jonah's House food pantry in Carlsbad. Also surviving are their children: Anne Stahl of Washington D.C., Mark (Linda) Stahl of California, Mary (Tom) Oravec of Olmsted Falls, Joan (Steve) Gulbronson of Florida, Theresa Stahl of Columbus, John (Deanna) Stahl of Manchester, Susan Stahl of Columbus, and Cathy (Alan) McClelland of Columbus; seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Jean (Dick) Wilson of Colorado. In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his brother, Merle Stahl. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St. in Clyde. Christian Wake services will be held at 4:45 p.m. His funeral mass will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde. Military rites will be provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion. Memorial donations in memory of Glenn may be given to Jonah's House, 512 West Stevens Street, Carlsbad, N.M. 88220.
