Leon Clifford Meeks, 80, of Texico, NM died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at his home in Texico. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. MST Saturday, June 22, 2013, at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton, with Rev. Wayne Boydstun officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Terrace. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Military honors will be by the US Army Honor Guard.

The family will be at Muffley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. MST Friday for visitation.
Leon was born July 12, 1932, to Grover Cleveland and Mary Ellen (Elledge) Meeks in Atoka, OK. He married Sharon Jackson September 2, 2006, in Farwell, TX. He worked as a part-time farmer and a repairman at AT&T. Leon retired from AT&T and became a full-time farmer until 2002 and then became a full-time loafer. Leon was a member of Farwell Church of Christ, Clovis-Portales Elks Lodge, and CWA for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon of the home; five sons, Wade (Rica) Meeks of Rhea, TX, Tim (Tori) Meeks of Farwell, TX, Steve (Cindy) Meeks of Farwell, TX, Matt (Michelle) Meeks of Texico, NM, and Mark (Mary Beth) Meeks of Houston, TX; a brother, Grover Meeks of Farwell, TX; five sisters, Virginia Meeks, Levetta McKeig, Tommie Meeks, Joann Walker, and Freida Meeks; three step-sons, Mike (Pam) Jackson of Roswell, NM, Phillip (Leah) Jackson of Clovis, NM, Richard (Vicki) Jackson of Clovis, NM; a step-daughter, Sandra (Gregg) Reid of Clovis, NM; 26 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Mary; first wife, Delores; and two brothers, Louis Meeks and Jesse Meeks.
