Walter S. Dyle Sr. passed peacefully into the next adventure on Friday, November 1, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. He had been battling ill health for the last several years but stayed tough to the end.
Walter was born February 13, 1936 in Helena, Alabama to Ruth Aldridge and Fred Dyle, he had seven siblings. He married Patricia Ann Newell on August 19, 1958, in Birmingham, AL. Two children: Walter "Sonny" Dyle Jr. (Sue), and Kimberly Dyle Schiller (Tom). Nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Walt joined the Air Force in 1955. He served 26 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Served in Vietnam, living all over the world, finally coming to Clovis to stay. He worked at Reb's Gunshop for over 20 years. Walt was a member of the DAV and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was an avid hunter, artifact finder, woodworker, gun trader and master at trivia. He was loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
Preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, daughter Kim, granddaughter Cori Jo.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, NM with Pastor Furgus Tunnell officiating. His grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
