Lillian Marney age 98 of Clovis, NM passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Muffley Funeral Home Chapel, 1430 Thornton, with Greg Martin officiating.
Lillian was born October 25, 1914, to John B. and Neva (Snarr) Birrer in Pueblo, CO. She graduated in 1942 from Denver University. In 1942, she married Leon W. Marney in Denver, CO and they came to Clovis in 1955 when they were stationed at Cannon AFB. She worked in civil service as the Procurement Officer. Lillian was a member of Sandia Peggers Cribbage Club and ABWA (American Business Women's Association) and was ABWA Woman of the Year in 1974. She received the Distinguished Service Award from the Air Force for her service at Cannon AFB. She loved to play cards, scrabble, shop, and travel.
Survivors include her two sons, RJ Marney of Albuquerque, NM, and Norman Marney of Clovis, NM; a daughter, Marla Jones and her husband Jamie of Clovis, NM; two granddaughters, Kelly Dunsbergen and husband Ben of San Jose, CA, and Beverly Aragon and husband Paul of Clovis, NM; and four grandsons, Donovan Marney of Mesa, AZ, Brian Marney, Christopher Gladwell, and Geoffrey Gladwell of Clovis, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon W. Marney; son, Michael A. Marney; and parents, John and Neva Birrer.
