Jessie B. Green Obituary
Jessie B. Green, 98, of Winston-Salem, NC, formerly of Clovis, NM, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012, at Springwood Care Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 10, 2012, at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton, with Rev. B.J. Choice officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories. Pallbearers include Abraham Loudermill, Cedric Haughawaut, Lawrence Green, Houston Chaffin III, Shylon Green, Terry Loudermill, and Curtis Gillespie. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerald Loudermill, Jamal Loudermill, Koko Loudermill, DeMar Byrd, and Jerrell Loudermill.
Jessie was born July 4, 1914, to James and Maggie (Smith) Baker in Mexia, TX. She married Leroy Green May 12, 1934, in Mexia, TX. She was the Operations Manager for the Salvation Army and attended Salvation Army Services for years. Jessie served as the Officer of the Women's Home League and was very active in the Salvation Army.
Survivors include her six sons, Leroy (Erlene) Green Sr., Cecil (Ruth) Green, Willie Green, Jim James (Sharon) Green, Joseph V. (Lillian) Green, and Harvey M. (Cyndi) Green; four daughters, Rosa L. (Wilbert T.) Washington, Laura Pollard, Beulah (Robert) Ali-Carr, and Maxiline Castille; grandchildren, Antonio Washington, Lou Wonder Pollock, Regina Washington, Tim Washington, Renee Smith, Shylon Green, Rebecca Blake, Kenneth Loudermill, Teresa Polk, Terry Loudermilk, Patricia Walker, Abraham Loudermill, Erick Loudermill, Vincent Loudermill, Gerald Loudermill, Kimberly Byrd, Jane Hill, Kevin Green, Cedric Haughwaut, Meredith Everist, Tammy Ali-Carr, Dawn Ali-nathan Ali-carr, Masina Gillespie, Cassandra Otero, Matilda Castille, Melissa Green, Lawrence Green, Emily Green, and Angela Green; 60 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charlie Baker of Mexia, TX; two sisters, Elnora Childs of Mexia, TX, and Willie Mae Thomas of Waco, TX, and a son-in-law, Chester Haughawaut.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Maggie; husband, Leroy; three daughters, Marlene, Betty Kay and Alma Marie; a son, Maxilee; and 7 brothers, Henry Baker. Claude "Buster" Baker, James "Jimbo" Baker, Wiley Baker, Liza Joe "LJ" Baker, Bill Baker, and one unnamed that died at birth; and 5 sisters, Cedella "Sis", Rosa Lee Williams, Mary Lou "Chick" Jearline Carter and Pauline Baker Person, and two granddaughters, Teresa Polk and Rosemary L. Smith.
