Lee Davis Lovelace was born in his family's ranch house on May 16, 1941, to Raymond and Leta (White) Lovelace in Claunch, NM. Lee grew up in Claunch and graduated from Corona, NM high school. As a teenager Lee liked his fast cars and loved his mother's pinto beans. After graduation Lee entered the Marine Corps. at 17. |
During his time in the military Lee married the love of his life Lynda (Martin) Lovelace on June 15, 1970, in Des Moines, IA. Lee honorably served our country for 26 years and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in December 31, 1984, after serving in Japan, Korea, and four tours in Vietnam.
Lee was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a personality all his own and loved a good joke. He enjoyed many things throughout his life including hunting, fishing, cooking, puzzles, reading western books, John Wayne movies and Nascar. Lee also had a soft spot for his pets; there were his dogs; Little Bit, Butch, and Buster Brown, and his cat Ozzy. Lee was a member of the National VFW, the Moose and the Eagles. Lee will be greatly missed by all who knew him and remembered for his compassion and generosity. Lee would help anyone in need.
Lee is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lynda; daughters, Diana (Jim) Lindblad, Debra Lovelace; sons, Kevin Wrede (partner, Peggy Dewease), Lee Lovelace Jr. (partner, Karlie Miller), Michael Lovelace; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; nephews, Lonnie Wyatt Bussey of Clovis, NM, Kenney Rice of Killeen, TX, Monty Bussey; niece, Teresa Tucker of Amarillo, TX; daughter in-law, Margaret Martin; sister in-law, Barbara Lovelace of Tucson, AZ.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, John Martin; brothers, Butch Lovelace, Jack Lovelace; sister, Nelda Bussey.
A Memorial Service for Lee D. Lovelace of Roseau, MN formerly of Clovis, NM, will be held on Monday, April 1, 2013, at 5:00 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Lee Lovelace passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Altru Hospital in Roseau at the age of 71.
