James Ira Alford passed away quietly on Saturday, December 7th, 2013, at the Clinton Oklahoma Veterans Center at the age of 88.
James was born in Coldwater Kansas on February 23rd, 1925, to Ira and Hattie Alford.
He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II on an LST vessel in the South Pacific. James then worked in the Oil field as a roughneck and truck driver and also worked extensively in Gas Plant Construction. James was an avid Horseman who raised and ran numerous horses on various racetracks throughout the Southwest.
James is survived by one sister, Wanda Paulhamus of Amarillo TX, one Son, Bart Alford of Elk City OK, two Grandsons; James Wesley and Billy Ray Alford, both of Roswell, NM and one Great granddaughter, Sophia.
James had asked that we not make a big deal over his passing so no services will be held but please take a moment along with us to reflect on the memories we all have of James. The Family asks that in lieu of flowers, if anyone would like to make a donation to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in James' name, it would be very much appreciated.
