Richard Leland Hamlin, 57, of Hinesville, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Memorial University Medical Center after a short illness.
Richard was a native of Fort Stewart and a lifelong resident of Hinesville. He was a graduate of Brewton Parker College and a member of First United Methodist Church of Hinesville. He was employed by Gateway Group Home in Hinesville.
Survivors include a brother, Robert Hamlin of Hinesville; and an uncle, Donald Hamlin of Hallandale Beach, Fla.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with Deacon Adna "Chad" Chaffee officiating. Burial will be at Hinesville Cemetery at a later date.
Carter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I miss my big cousin so much & often times reflect back on those occasions we went out into the woods to shoot paper targets & cans. Will never forget my trips up to Hinesville from when I lived in Fort Lauderdale. They were often, yet sadly too few in between if that makes sense. Nevertheless, so grateful for those times. I love you Richard.

Robert-I know too well the pain of losing a sibling-I am deeply sorry for your loss.
