Martin, Gerald Leroy "Jerry" - Hinesville  
Gerald Leroy "Jerry" Martin, 66, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016, at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, due to his battle with bladder cancer. He was born on April 6, 1950, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, to the late John William Henry Martin and Ruth Vivian Cline. He was one of 16 children. A resident of Hinesville since August 1994, he retired as a U.S. Army staff sergeant assigned to HHC DMMOC on Fort Stewart, after 20 years on April 30, 2000. He also worked at Reidsville Prison, US Logistics, Sikes Group and recently Balfour Beatty Communities. He refereed soccer for Liberty County Recreation, high schools and traveling teams. Jerry loved soccer, fishing, family and friends. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Boston Celtic fan. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Wanda Martin; his daughters, Tammy Luce and Tawyna Gray; son, Timothy Martin; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, John W. Martin, Melvin Martin, Donald Martin and Danny Martin; five sisters, Hazel Ray, Martha Roseberry, Susan Jacoby, Ruby Hess and Gladys Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Kornegay and Moseley Funeral Home, 4645 Hard Scrabble Road, Columbia, South Carolina, followed by procession to the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors. McCarn Jr., Gene R. - Ludowici  
LUDOWICI - Gene R. McCarn Jr., 61, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Golden Isles Hospice in Brunswick. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina, and lived in Long County the past 21 years. He previously worked in the South Carolina shipyards and retired from civil service at Fort Stewart. He was a standout athlete in high school, playing both baseball and football. He was a team roper in rodeos and ropings throughout the Southeast, an avid fisherman and hunter, especially duck hunting, and traveled the United States on many hunting trips. He attended Ludowici First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his father, Gene R. McCarn Sr. and his grandparents, Gordon and Nora Infinger. Survivors are his wife, Clare McCarn of Ludowici; daughter, Jennifer Middleton of Lexington, South Carolina; son, Clay McCarn of Ludowici; stepdaughter, Megan Jackson of Ludowici; stepson, Colton Infinger of Ludowici; mother and stepfather, Bettie and Buddy Tant of Charleston; sister, Bonnie Brown of Sunbury, Pennsylvania; uncle, Paul Infinger of Beaufort; and three grandchildren, Harley, Savannah and Conner. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, at Ludowici First Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Rentz and Leonard Poole officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Creek Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 18, at Howard Funeral Home in Ludowici. Pallbearers will be Lance Grant, Speedy DeLoach, Leonard Poole, Jason "Woody" Wamba, Wesley Johnson, Lloyd Toler and Mike McClelland Sr. Remembrances are suggested to Long County CARES, P.O.
