Jimmie L. Golden Sr., 70, departed this life on May 18, 2016, at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. Jimmie was born in Midway to the late Stafford and Mary Golden Sr. He attended Liberty County public schools. He was united in marriage on Sept. 2, 1967, to the lovely Ollie Belle Roberts. Jimmie held numerous positions as security guard at Chemtall in Riceboro, certified truck driver, Liberty County Board of Education bus driver and 33 years with CSX Transportion. He leaves to mourn his wife of 48 years. Ollie Belle and five children, Elder Lahoma (Elder Timothy) Randolph of Kansas, Minister Tony (Minister Vela) Golden of Ludowici, Latarsha S. Felecther of New Orleans, Latisha M. Golden of Hinesville and Jimmie L. Golden Jr. of Midway; six children he raised, Patricia S. Roberts, Carolyn J. Young, Christopher S. Roberts, Kimberly L. Johnson, Sharon T. Roberts and Stephanie A. Varnedoe; one brother, James E. (Jeannie) Golden of Midway; four sisters, Willie Mae (Elder Harry) Robertson of Midway, Louise (Kelvin) Baltimore of Hinesville, Dorene (Isaac) Stevens of Warner Robins and Shirley (Paul) Puckett of McDonough; one brother-in-law, George T. (Marilyn) Roberts of New York; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. His wake will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at St. Peter's AME Church, 5394, E. Oglethorpe Highway, Midway. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pastor Debbie Grant Neal will officiate. Dorchester Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
