Mr. Bob Grant, 65, Midway departed this life on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Savannah Hospice.
He was born Jan. 14, 1947, in Midway to the late Deacon John Grant Sr. and Mrs. Matilda Baker Grant. He was educated in the Liberty County Public School System. He spent more than 30 years living in Miami, Fla., before returning to Liberty County.
At a young age, he was baptized and became a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. P.C. Ludge. While living in Liberty County, he was employed by Fort Stewart. He was self employed while living in Miami.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and carpentry work. He was a very fun person and enjoyed being with others.
Other family members who preceded him in death were a daughter, Little Rose Grant, brother, Mr. Thomas Grant, two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Stevens and Mrs. Rutha Mae Heath.
His survivors include six children, Mr. Thomas Grant, Mrs. Angalee Lewis, Mrs. Dinelar (James ) Littles, Mr. Robert (Elicia) Powell, Ms. Michele Grant and Mr. Bobbie Jackson; five brothers, Mr. John Grant of Midway, Mr. Willie Grant of New Jersey, Mr. William Grant of Liberty County, Mr Ulysese (Melissa) Grant of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mr. James (Tresa Adams-Grant) Grant Sr. of Midway; two sisters, Mrs. Mary (Radford) Matthews of Midway and Mrs. Ida (Elliott) Tate of Midway; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
His wake will be from 7-8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, at Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, at Community Missionary Baptist Church on East Oglethorpe Highway in Midway.
Interment will be in Gibbons Cemetery in Midway.
