Donnie Roy Henderson, 67, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 while under the care of hospice.
Donnie was a native of Wilson County, North Carolina, born Nov. 22, 1946, to the late James and Clara Henderson. He had lived in Hinesville for the past 10 years, having moved here from England. Donnie was a veteran of the United States Air Force
and served during the Vietnam War
era. After serving in the military, he went to work for AAFES. He then went to work as a civil-service employee and retired after more than 20 years of service with them. Donnie was a member of the Masons in England. He enjoyed working with his hands as a carpenter and he really liked his "good" scotch. Donnie will be missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Wilma Henderson of Hinesville; three sons, Donnie Henderson Jr. (Kisha) of Maryland, Rodney Brown (Yvette) and Robert, both of North Carolina; a daughter, Donnie Michelle Royal of North Carolina; sister, Barbara Henderson of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special family in Hinesville, Timothy and Edelyn Bird.
Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Friday, July 11, at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 11, at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Georgia Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Glennville with The United States Air Force rendering military honors.
