Frances Barnett Reed, 80, died Thursday, May 21, at Hospice Savannah.
She was a native of Jasper County, S.C., and lived in Fleming for 60 years. She was a ships welder during World War II at the Port of Savannah, and made fishing rods in Miami for 10 years. She was a member of Fleming Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday school class.
Surviving are two daughters, Frances (Terry) Browning of Fleming and Diane (Tom) Edmonds of Augusta; two brothers, David Phillips of Midway and Walter Phillips of Kibbee; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday, May 25, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with the Rev. Joe Goddard officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Herman Phillips, Charlie Phillips, Charles Smith, Emery Phillips, Emory Clark, Brandon Hayes, Fred Phillips and Mitchell Hayes. Honorary pallbearers will be the Faith Sunday School class and friends.
