Frankie J. Barfield, 80, of Hinesville went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 23, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville after a short illness.
She was born in Garfield and lived in Hinesville from 1961-1990. She and her husband managed the Liberty County Airport from 1967-1990, and greeted many prominent Georgians who arrived at the airport. She was a member of Hinesville First United Methodist Church, a homemaker and loving mother.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanie Barfield Minchey and son-in-law, Teddy J. Brown Sr.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathie and Dennis Duke of Jacksonville and Cindy Brown of Colonels Island; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Linda K. Barfield of Ludowici, Bob and Robin Barfield of Allenhurst, and John Barfield of Flora Home, FL; her husband, George W. Barfield of Auburndale, Fla.; one sister, Christine Nasworthy of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Kimberly Duke Boulware, Kristy Duke Davis, Robert Frank Stanley, Teddy J. Brown Jr., Jason Brown, Kyle Brown USAF, Rachael Barfield and John Randall Barfield Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; and her cat, Fat Eddie.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, which would have been her 81st birthday, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charlie Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Dorchester Cemetery with Adam Boulware, Chad Davis, Joey Brown, Jason Brown, Kyle Brown and Jeff McIntosh serving as pallbearers.
