Jacqueline West, 58, of Riceboro, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.
She was born in Riceboro to James West and the late Annie Mae Waye West. Jackie, as she was affectionately known, was baptized at an early age. She move to Miami, Fla., where she worked as a nurse's aide at Palm Springs Hospital and later at Parkway Regional Medical Center. In 1993 she returned to Liberty County.
Survivors include her father, James West of Riceboro; one son, Reginald (Doris) West of San Diego; two daughters, Carla McRae of Atlanta and Thorne West of Hinesville; three brothers, Earl W. (Alice) West of Melbourne, Fla., Lonnie D. West of Bristol, Conn., Jerome West of Miami; five sisters, Clannie (Ronell) Chaney of Riceboro, Beverly (Gene) Barr of Miami, Florence West of Miami, Pamela Renee Washington of Ft. Lee, Va., Edith M. (Alfred) Holmes of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; devoted aunt, Maedell Pace of Riceboro; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. on Friday, March 7, at Dorchester Funeral Home, 7842 E. Oglethorpe Highway, Midway.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at First African Baptist Church, 1709 Barrington Ferry Road, Riceboro. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. Neil Dawson will officiate.
