Jo Ella McCabe Patterson, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Coastal Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Coffeyville, Kan., but lived most of her life in Hinesville. She was a member of Hinesville First United Methodist Church and the Ollie Darsey Sunday school class.
Mrs. Patterson met Marvin, her future husband, in Wichita, Kan., when she was employed at a defense plant and he was in training there for the Army Air Corps. They married and he went on to serve in the South Pacific. She moved to Georgia to live with his parents until the end of the war.
Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Marvin Patterson; brothers, Lester, Raymond and Irwin McCabe; and a sister, Rocena Ulrich.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Burch (Gary) of Hinesville; son, Alan Patterson (Ruth) of Midway; grandchildren, Aaron Brewer (Kristi) and Carly Patterson; great-grandchildren, Caroline and Adam Brewer and Madilyn Talley; a brother, Ed McCabe of Hays, Kan.; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Saturday, Nov. 2, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral service and burial in Hinesville Cemetery followed.
