Merrilyn Engelhaupt, 83, of Hinesville, passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Hospice House of Savannah.
Merrilyn was born Feb. 25, 1929, to the late Walter M. Shaw and Edna L. Stewart in Atlanta. She moved to Hinesville in 1967.
Merrilyn was a tax and business clerk for the city of Hinesville until she retired in August 1996. She was an active member of St. Philips Episcopal Church, Morning Glory Garden Club and Red Hat Liberty Bells.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Denard Shaw and John "Buddy" Shaw.
Survivors are her husband of 54 years, William "Bill" Engelhaupt of Hinesville; daughter, Becky (Comer) Sellars of Hinesville; grandchildren, Kimberly Hart of Hinesville, Amanda (Ronnie) Smith of Tennessee, Katie Sellars of Hinesville; stepdaughter, Wanda Harris of Virginia; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at St. Philips Episcopal Church in Hinesville with the Rev. William H. Lea officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Philips Episcopal Church, 302 East Gen. Stewart Way, Hinesville, GA 31313, or Safe Hollow Animal Sanctuary, Inc., P.O. Box 732, Ludowici, GA 31316.
