Ramon Luis Colon-Cruz, of Hinesville, departed to be in God's presence on Sept. 16, 2013, in Savannah in the presence of his family.
He was born May 25, 1955, in Panama to Mr. Julian Colon and Maria Cruz. Ramon retired from the United States Army
as a master sergeant after serving our nation proudly for 24 years. He worked at Winn Army Community Hospital at Fort Stewart as the NCOIC of PAD from 1995 to 2000.
Ramon enjoyed peaceful days at home with his family, talking, laughing, reminiscing, watching movies, taking car rides with his sons, Ray Jr. and Matt, playing with his grandsons and his beloved Shih-tzu doggies, Sami and Lory. Ramon also enjoyed watching his favorite teams the Atlanta Braves, L.A. Dodgers and Green Bay Packers.
His loving legacy on Earth continues with his beloved wife of 38 years, Evelyn Colon; son, Ramon Colon Jr. and wife Nidya Colon, son, Matthew Colon and his fiancee' Kayla DeJesus; grandsons, Nathen Joshua and Elijah Andrew Colon; parents, Julian Colon and Maria Cruz; siblings, Gilbert and Sonia Colon. Ramon was also blessed with a loving mother-in-law, "Mama" Guillermina Perez, who had been at Evelyn's side to take loving care of Ramon for the last 13 years.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Georgia Veterans
Memorial Cemetery in Glennville with full military honors being rendered. Pastor John Mills will officiate the service.
Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
